New to rolling shutters?
If you are interested in rolling shutters, automated sun control, and sun protection, you need a starting point. The right place for you to start learning about shutters is Skandic. The following information is provided as a means of education on how shutters are made, as well as their benefits.
How is a shutter made?
Skandic forms its shutters one slat at a time. It all starts in the climate controlled machine room. Raw aluminum coils are lifted onto the roll-forming machine, where the long sheets of metal are precision formed into a double walled slat. Custom mixed foam is injected into the slat cavity, where it hardens and cures through a heating process. After being cut to finished lengths, the slats are bundled by type and sent to the warehouse for usage and inventory. Each shutter is cut to size and assembled by hand for a precise fit on each building opening.
So many choices!
With such a wide variety of slats to choose from, how do you pick the one that is right for you? We’ve made that question easy to answer by dividing our different shutter types into recognizable categories.
Energy Saving: Energy Saving slats consist of lighter weight designs, and they protect against heat and cold energy transfer. These are ideal for people looking to save on energy bills, and they can enjoy the additional benefits a lightweight shutter has to offer.
Building Security: Building Security slats are built with thicker, aircraft grade aluminum, and an ultra high density foam. The high quality and durability of these components allows the shutters to withstand repeated impact with a forced entry device such as a crowbar.
Hurricane Shutters for Protection: Hurricane Protection slats are tested, using the toughest standards in the United States, the Texas Department of Insurance, Miami Dade County, and the Florida Building Code. Whether you choose our foam filled aluminum slats or extruded aluminum, Skandic has the hurricane protection you need.
Speciality Application: Specialty Application shutters do special jobs because of their size, shape, color and composition.
Exterior rolling shutters offer privacy, security, light & sun control, as well as storm protection. These multipurpose, European window shutters roll down on the outside of any window or door. They are operated from the inside of the home, and they offer peace of mind by protecting windows and doors from intruders and vandalism.
Other applications include: Storm protection, protective barriers for storefronts, pass-through counters, wet bars and cabanas.
